My creative inspiration

Things I make, stuff that inspire

A new piece of jewellery to add to my collection

Summery blues and whites with a touch of gold – inspired by a necklace in the jewellery store, and it took me just a couple of hours to  make my own 🙂

Wedding invites

We finally finished our wedding invites – I love how they turned out. It took us pretty long to finish, as we printed each one individually, and we used a Silhouette Cutter to cut the word on the front side.

Book confetti

Wedding preparations again 🙂 Instead of rice (or, maybe, besides rice or rose petals), we opt for book confetti. It took me about “two movies” to cut the hearts with a craft puncher. It seems to be a decent amount, but after dividing it into smaller portions, we’ll decide if we need some more. I especially liked when some hearts accidentally had meaningful (pieces of) words on them.

Venetian box

I adore boxes. Today I made a black and gold box with a decoupaged venetian painting.

Will you be my… maid of honour?

Bridesmaids and maid of honour gifts will also fit into our book themed wedding. That’s why I wanted to make some cute jewellery for them. I chose a book that enlists all the names, cut out their names and initials and some lovely adjectives (happy, beatiful, cute) to embellish the accessories.

The boxes were made of plain wooden boxes that I took apart, spray painted white/cream and gold and reassembled. I used decorative tape for the golden details, a little laser cut wooden heart and a round wooden piece to “pop the question”: Will you be my bridesmaid? Will you be my maid of honour?

Wine glasses for the wedding

I saw a set of bridesmaids’ wine glasses on Pinterest (where else? 🙂 ), and it looked so pretty that I decided to recreate them.

However, as I only have two bridesmaids, to make a set of six glasses, I made maid of honour and bride & groom glasses as well.

For painting, I used porcelain(china) paint, because that lasts longer and that’s not transparent at all – whereas regular, transparent glass paints are not exactly waterproof and they tend to wash off in the machine.

I really hope they will like it and they will be surprised (for once in my life I must say that fortunately, they don’t read this blog 🙂 ).

Folded book photo/place card holder

As far as folded book art is concerned, I wanted to make some less “artsy” pieces as well. As photo holders, or place card holders, or whatever – actually, we haven’t quite figured out what to to with these, because it is a really versatile piece. Photos are good, because people love watching photos, place cards, on the other hand, are on the practical side.

Wedding decoration – folded book art

I am in full swing preparing our wedding, and I want it to be a book themed one. When I googled it, I found many folded book art centerpieces, and at first glance I thought it was sorcery. Or that it would take way too much time to create.

But then I started to dig into tutorials, and I found several instructables. I chose the one that seemed the least time consuming, and I (or, I should say, we) started folding. First we made these hearts as they seemed easy enough and pretty at the same time.

Basics of my wardrobe

For the New Year, I decided to start actually using the “basics” I have in my wardrobe. First, I gathered all of them in a special place of the wardrobe – and I hope that whenever I am going to stand there, helpless and unable to decide what to to wear, these 16 pieces will help me.

Do you have a “basics” section in your wardrobe? Did I forget anything that could be useful (besides from shoes, accessorioes, coats, etc.)?

Christmas playlist #01

I have created three playlists to help me get done with all Christmas preparations. The first one is a dynamic punk-rock-ska playlist. the other two are more on the jazzy and choral-y side, but before I could get into the really (cheesy) Christmas mood, I need this type of music.

You can access the first playlist it by clicking here.
